PERMISSION RESET
Intuitive + abstract online course
LET GO OF PERFECTIONISM, FEAR, AND OVERTHINKING TO CREATE MORE COURAGEOUSLY
WHAT IF YOU STOPPED TRYING TO MAKE THE “RIGHT” ART?
Permission Reset is a 5-day creative reset designed to:
loosen your grip on the rules
quiet your inner critic
make art from curiosity instead of judgment.
Over five days, you’ll create five complete paintings with me through start-to-finish, real-time painting lessons.
We’ll work with acrylic paint and mixed media techniques while exploring playful ways to experiment with color, marks, layers, shapes, and composition.
You don’t need more rules. You need permission.
So grab your paints, make a mess, and come play. I’ll be right there with you, reminding you that you don’t have to make perfect art.
You just have to give yourself permission to make it.

Who is this for?
Permission Reset is for you if…
You have plenty of ideas, but you overthink them before you ever begin.
You’re tired of trying to make your art “good” and want to actually enjoy making it.
You find yourself judging a painting while you’re still in the middle of making it.
You get attached to a painting that’s working and then become afraid to push it further.
You second-guess your color choices, compositions, marks, and instincts.
You’ve learned a lot of art “rules” and sometimes feel like they’re getting in the way of your own voice.
You want to loosen up, take creative risks, and experiment without needing to know where the painting is going.
You’re a recovering perfectionist who wants to make messier, bolder, more expressive work.
You want practical ways to get unstuck when the blank page or canvas feels intimidating.
Most of all, you want to trust yourself more and judge yourself less.
And yes, beginners are absolutely welcome.
You do not need any previous painting experience. You don’t need to know how to paint, understand composition, or have a particular style. You don’t even need to think of yourself as an “artist.”
This class is about the process of making, experimenting, and discovering what happens when you stop trying to get it right.
Come exactly as you are. We’ll figure it out as we go.
Recommended supplies
Keep it simple. Use what you have.
You do not need a giant collection of art supplies to take this class. In fact, I’d love for you to resist the urge to go shopping and instead go on a little art-supply scavenger hunt through your studio.
Look for the colors you’re drawn to. Dig out those weird supplies you bought and never used. Grab the brushes you already love. Make this yours.
Optional supplies to play with
Mixed media supplies: Neocolor II crayons, colored pencils, Stabilo Woody crayons
Mark-making tools: old credit cards, palette knives, silicone shapers, or whatever interesting tools you can find around your house or at the hardware store
Craft heat gun or blow dryer for speeding up drying time
Basic supplies
Watercolor or mixed media paper
Acrylic paint in whatever colors you love
A few paintbrushes in different sizes
There are no special tools required. Part of the fun is seeing what you already have and getting curious about what else could make an interesting mark.
Inside the class, I’ll walk you through the supplies in a detailed video and provide a downloadable supply list with links for anything you might want to add to your studio.
Use what you have. Follow your curiosity. Make a mess.
Your Guide FOR THIS CREATIVE JOURNEY
Hi! I’m Becky, and I’m So Glad you’re here
I’m an intuitive painter, creative catalyst, and recovering perfectionist.
I believe making art isn’t about getting it right. It’s about giving yourself permission to explore, experiment, make a mess, and see what happens.
I’ve spent years learning how to quiet the inner critic and trust my own creative instincts. And believe me, I know the resistance that shows up when you’re staring at a blank page or canvas.
The overthinking. The second-guessing. The “What if I ruin it?” voice. The urge to make everything look good before you’ve even had a chance to play.
That’s exactly why I created Permission Reset.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Absolutely. Permission Reset was designed with beginners in mind. You don’t need previous painting experience, formal art training, or even consider yourself an artist to take this class.
I’ll walk you through everything you need to know, step by step, while encouraging you to experiment and make the process your own.
And because you have lifetime access, there’s no pressure to keep up or get everything right the first time. Go at your own pace, pause, revisit a lesson, and come back whenever you need a creative reset.
-
Nope!
You absolutely do not need hundreds of dollars worth of paints, brushes, and fancy art supplies.
I believe you can make beautiful, expressive art with a surprisingly small collection of materials. I’ll give you suggestions for supplies to use, but I also encourage you to shop your own studio, use what you already have, and get creative with what you find around your house.
The goal is to make art, not build the world's largest art-supply collection. 😉

Absolutely.
Permission Reset isn't about learning how to paint from scratch. It’s about what happens when you stop trying to get everything “right.”
If you’re an experienced artist who feels stuck, overly cautious, perfectionistic, or disconnected from the joy of making, this class is an invitation to loosen up, take creative risks, and reconnect with your instincts.
I’ll share techniques, creative strategies, and some of the approaches I use constantly in my own professional painting practice, along with plenty of opportunities to experiment and discover your own way of doing things.

Yes!
Permission Reset includes access to a private community forum inside the classroom where you can share what you’re creating, ask questions, celebrate your experiments, and connect with other students.
I’ll check in regularly and answer questions there.
And please remember: you can always pause, rewind, and rewatch the lessons. Sometimes the best way to understand something is to see it twice!
-
Absolutely. And this is one of my favorite parts.
The private community forum gives you a place to share your paintings, see what other students are creating, ask questions, celebrate your creative wins, and realize that you're definitely not the only person who sometimes stares at a blank page wondering, “What the hell am I doing?”
Come share your experiments. There’s no need to make them perfect before you post them.

My teaching style is heart-centered, intuitive, playful, and very hands-on.
I spent two decades as a college educator, but my approach to art is intentionally different from a traditional academic art class. I’m a largely self-taught artist, and I teach from my own experience of developing an intuitive painting practice through experimentation, curiosity, and plenty of happy accidents.
You’ll see me creating in real time while I share techniques, creative strategies, and ways to work through those moments when you get stuck or start second-guessing yourself.
I’m much more interested in helping you develop your own creative voice than teaching you how to paint exactly like me.
-
Not exactly.
You’ll absolutely learn painting techniques, but Permission Reset is less about following a formula and more about learning to trust yourself while you paint.
There’s room for intuition, experimentation, symbolism, play, happy accidents, and changing your mind halfway through.
If you’re looking for highly technical instruction, academic-style teaching, detailed critique, or professional certification, this probably isn’t the class for you.
If you’re looking for a space to loosen up, experiment, make some beautiful messes, and rediscover why you wanted to make art in the first place...
Welcome. You’re in the right place.
